It says on the Darren Shan site that its still in the Script stage and Mighn't be made at all!But if it is I think maybe 2010/11.

Must I remind everyone that at the beginning of the book that Darren said he would not reveal the name of the country he lived in so you don't know if he lived in America or he lived in China? Yes he probably didn't live in America because he mentions it in a way that makes you think he didn't but...well really if you're mad about the cast then yell at the British or Irish moviemakers for not picking it up. You can't complain when it was THEIR fault for not getting the rights for it.

I don't think it was meant to be a racism thing...maybe they couldn't find a right looking actoress for the part and they prolly had a time crunch and decided they would go with what they got...why they changed the name is still a mystery, though....=/
